The Siguanaba’s Hammock

Image
In Central America, there are some incredible trees called,  Amates . They tend to be associated with demons and creatures from beyond like the Siguanaba . Central Americans advise not to approach these beautiful and mysterious trees. Everyone says that through them, the demons and many mysterious beings from the underworld wish to contact you and take control of your soul. Over the years, some men, who were captured by the Siguanaba more than once, observed a peculiar pattern in her actions. They noticed that the large and leafy branches of some Amate trees in the Lempa River moved from side to side without any breeze or wind. In these specific trees, she rests in her hammock (figure 1), waiting for any courageous man who tries to flirt with her. Figure 1. The Siguanaba is waiting in her hammock. Pay attention to these trees! Say all the survivors! Get out of that place! The Siguanaba is even more powerful there than anywhere else! Her tits can hypnotize you and make yo...

The Guirola Family

Image
Long ago, a tall, white, and good-looking man appeared from nowhere on a cold night, along the cobbled streets of Zacatecoluca. He had a lonely and melancholic air and resided in a tiny cabin. He claimed to be Rafael María Guirola. Mr. Rafael was born in Spain and became a successful businessman in El Salvador, where his first businesses were related to trading. He got married to Gertrudis de la Cotera y González, of Spanish descent, and from their marriage in 1826 was born Ángel Guirola de la Cotera. Ángel was sent by his family to study for his bachelor’s degree in Guatemala City. After his graduation, he worked for a couple of years in one of the largest pharmacies there, owned by Mr. Pío Porta. In 1844, Ángel returned to El Salvador, where he spent his savings and acquired some loans to buy a few lands that he dedicated to the cultivation of indigo. He showed a great ability to export this product and extended his business throughout the Caribbean, Panama, and the Un...

The Fleshless Woman

Image
It was 1953 when I was coming back from Chalchuapa to my hometown Santa Ana City. I was driving my new Ford Crestline Sunliner. It was an amazing night, the sky was clear, no cows in the street, only my car and me. As a single and handsome man, I was the king of the dance floor. A few guys had my style and elegance. However, that night I had a terrifying experience that I will remember all my life. Almost halfway to Santa Ana, I saw the most beautiful woman in my life. She was blonde, tall, had blue eyes, and was very sexy. She was walking in the same direction that I was driving. I stopped for a moment and asked: “Are you lost? It’s quite late, do you need a lift?” She smiled and said: “Sure, I’m going to Santa Ana City. I never expected that such a nice guy would stop and give me a lift.” I felt like I was the luckiest man. I started to talk and flirt with her, showing my best skills. She started to giggle and began to seduce me too. It was the most exciting moment in many mo...

The Midnight Yeller

Image
Many years ago, an Indian man was banished from his tribe and forced to live in the forests and mountains of what is now called Central America.   It was there where a demon took possession of him, and from that fusion, the Midnight Yeller (figure 1), a half-human and half-demon beast, of great size was born. Figure 1. The Midnight Yeller. ¹ Theoretically, no one can see such a creature, but its eerie yells break the nocturnal silence in the jungles and mountains of those lands. However, one day, one man swore had seen it, his name is Julio, and his story is as follows. On a Friday in July of 1963, he was returning from a wild party in the streets of Santa Ana. Julio was a very strong man who loved to walk at night. This time, he was walking on a small trail when he passed by the church of El Calvario and heard its bell, he thought it had to be midnight. He got a little scared and stride. Almost, a block near City Hall, for the first time in many years, he noticed that ...

The Lady of The Rings

Image
Everything started in San Salvador just after the independence of The Federal Republic of Central America between 1823 and 1841. Numerous children started to disappear without a trace. Many citizens of El Salvador attributed these evil acts to a woman who wore white clothes. She had an indescribable face and wore many rings in her hands. Some of them had skulls, while other ones were impossible to describe. However, there is only one story fully documented by Juan’s family. Unfortunately, Juan became mad after he saw the Lady of the Rings, face-to-face, at least twice. His story is as follows. One afternoon Juan was going to his work as a carpenter in 4th Western Street. He had a very tiring work in the government to provide all that they needed for the wars with the Mexican Empire. After his work, he returned home and noticed that this night was extremely hot, perhaps 35 degrees Celsius. His wife was reading a book, and when he entered, she gave him a kiss. They spoke for a wh...

The Squeaky Wagon

Image
What I’m going to tell you, a man told me years ago. The same story was shared with him by someone else too. He told me that his grandfather, already deceased, had heard it from his grandparents. This is an old legend to cut a long story short. They said that this happened in those days when still many Indians lived in America and the first Spanish Conquistadors were arriving at these lands with more and more Spaniards. According to what old legends said, almost all these Spaniards came because they were not doing very well in their country, and they thought they would have a better life in these lands. That’s how Marcos Villegas came to El Salvador, who later renamed himself as Mr. Marcos Villegas de la Buena Nueva. If I remember correctly, he was born in a small town lost in the mountains of Spain. They said because he was unrude, he learned how to read and write thanks to the charity and patience of Priest Mateo Nuñez, a little priest who often visited that place...

The Fair Judge of The Night

Image
Many moons ago, after the Spanish colonization was over, when it was necessary to maintain tranquility at night and remove the dangers from it, an uncommon being appeared from the beyond to bring peace and order. This being was a ghost, but no one knew what he was until one night during the summer of 1821. Some men were returning drunk and were causing a lot of troubles in their neighborhood in La Palma. They did not listen to anyone and continued their mess. However, a strong wind suddenly blew and shook the branches of the trees. It was so strong that they hit the ground immediately afterward. When they stood up, they saw the being as nothing they had ever seen in their lives. It was quite tall, perhaps 1.80m, and was headless! They could only see a plume of smoke from his neck! Also, it dressed entirely in black and rode a black horse (figure 1). Plus, in his right hand, he held a whip. Figure 1. The Fair Judge of the Night during the sunrise. ¹ They were aqui...

The Weeping Woman

Image
Juana was a proud mother of five children in La Palma , a well-known city in the northern part of El Salvador nearby Honduras, and she had a perfect life. She had a beautiful house near the Chiquito River and a good job. Furthermore, she was a practicing Catholic like most of her family and neighbors in those days. Plus, her husband was handsome and intelligent. She had everything that she wanted. However, one night when she was returning from the church, and was frightened because her house was on fire, their neighbors were trying to put out the fire, but everything was in vain, and she lost all that she had. For many months, she tried to overcome her misfortune, but nothing helped her. She became mad and obsessed with her lost kids. Some of her friends interned her in a psychiatric hospital, but one night she escaped and committed suicide in a ravine not so far from her old house. The city was in complete sadness when they discovered it. They lost the most smiling and humble...

The Bewitched Wagon

Image
Long ago, an evil and greedy sorcerer lived in Izalco. He used to be a common Indian man who got tired of the extreme poverty he was born with and decided to reach a unique deal with the Black Knight. After their deal, he was renamed Evil Pedro and pretended to be a farmer daily, while scaring people at night. On one 15 th of May, after Saint Isidore the Laborer’s mass, the local priest organized the wagons’ annual blessing. The priest blessed every farmer in town, so, they could have an abundant year. When Pedro’s time came to get his blessing, the priest almost blessed his wagon, when suddenly, he stopped and said aloud: “This wagon was already blessed by the devil himself! What are you doing here?” Pedro pretended he did not know what he was talking about. After a while, the priest started to spray his holy water over Pedro. For him, this was like acid. The holy water started to destroy his skin, causing several wounds. The priest also sprayed his oxen. They just knelled ...

The Good and The Bad Cadejo

Image
Most of you might have heard about some twins who transformed into the Cadejos because of their bad behavior and uncountable mischief. However, these Cadejos are mostly seen in the rural areas while the good and the bad ones are from the urban side, and their story comes from the pre-colonial era. Do you want to hear it? Are you sure? Because it’s a scary story, are you sure? So, let’s dive deep into it. It was the year 400 BCE when the first inhabitants of Quelepa, a settlement of the Lenca people, were moving to a new land, a place that was beautiful and relatively close to a volcano. Plus, it was next to an impressive river full of fresh water. In this settlement, a couple had a difficult birth of fraternal twins, the first ones in centuries. The town rejoiced because a new pair of twins had come, and there were massive celebrations, even the Shaman and their King came and blessed them. Some years passed, and these twins grew up. One had beautiful red hair, and yellow eyes,...
